Chapter 1
Meet Your Pokemon

One the Lakefront of Lake Verity a light appeared on the shore and a small blue hedgehog appeared semi-curled in a ball. As he opened his eyes, he slowly got to his feet and looked around “Big BROTHER!” he called but didn’t get any answer from the older hedgehog. Sonic sighed he had to make the best of being in a strange world without his brother there to back him up. Sonic looked out at the lake and gasped “WOW!” he smiled as he watched the moonlight move across the crystal clear water. “It’s almost as beautiful as the Hedgehog-Son Kingdom.” he whispered before looking up in the sky.
Suddenly Sonic heard a cry “Cynda-QUIIILLLL!” Sonic turned in time to see a funnel of fire erupt across the lake and into the night sky. It was soon followed by angry screeches Sonic didn’t know why but he soon ran off to see what the fuss was about. As he exited the grass he saw a small blue and yellow furred creature with flames sparking from its back being attacked by a flock of small black and gray birds. The birds were diving at the frighten creature who was trying to fend them off so it could escape. “Cyndaquil?” it cries out as Sonic runs on to the scene and blocks the creature from a dive attack.
“Don’t worry…I won’t let them hurt you!” He cried out as a peck attack struck the middle of his back. Sonic hopped up with Cyndaquil in his arms and ran for the path out the lake. The birds kept diving and Sonic kept shouting “Get AWAY! Leave us ALOOONE!” he shielded the creature he held as he ran into a nearby town.
“Cynda?” asked the creature as it looked up at the creature that was flailing its arms like a mad man trying to keep the birds away. It spotted a bird diving straight at the head of its protector and it gasped softly before bristling up “CYNDA-QUILLLLLL!” unleashing a blast of fire that flew over Sonic shoulder and sent the birds scattering. Cyndaquil then collapsed in Sonic’s arms. Sonic gasped as the creature collapsed.
“SOMEBODY HELP!!! I NEED ASSITANCE! PLEASE ANYONE!” he shouted at the top of his lungs as a tear rolled down his face. He didn’t even know the creature but he felt like it held a piece of his heart. As Sonic continued to holler a stern old man walked out of a building and began to scowl him.
“Hey Kid people are trying to sleep!” but when his eyes fell on Sonic’s tear streaked face and the creature he quickly grabbed Sonic’s arm and dragged him to a building beside the one he just exited. “Come we have to get you both to the Pokemon Center.”
As they enter the center the man led Sonic to the counter as a nurse as how could she help. Sonic saw her sweet smile and calmly held out the creature he held, softly sniffling. The nurse gasped as she gently took the creature “Oh the poor darling…We’ll fix him up in no time and return him in the morning.” She said as she took Cyndaquil into a back room. The little Pokemon looked up and called softly “Cynda?”
Sonic heard it and ran after the nurse as the old man nodded and wrote a small note and place it on the counter, before walking back to his building with a smile on his face.
In the back room Sonic had sat down beside the creature and was patting it softly as it sat up weakly and hopped into his lap. “Cynda-Cyndaquil?” it asked and Sonic sighed.
“I wasn’t going to leave you here alone…I just wanted to talk to the man but he’s probably gone by now…You going to be alright?” he asked as the Cyndaquil curled up in his lap and yawned before nodding weakly. Sonic sighed with relief as he looked out the window at the night sky. “Where is Shadow?” he asked the sky as he looked down at the snoozing Pokemon in his lap. “Will you help me find him?” he asked the Pokemon out of curiosity and it slowly nodded. It wanted to travel and explore with its protector.
